Beginner Ladies Golf - 101

If you are a new beginning golfer there are a couple of things you should be aware of so you have a good experience. In this article, we will talk about tee times, dress codes and tipping at the golf course.

What are tee times? A tee time or also known as a starting time is when you are expected to arrive at the first tee. Tee times or a tee time can be made in person in the golf shop, you may call the golf shop and some courses will allow you to make a tee time on the internet. Once you have a scheduled tee time, you are responsible for arriving at the course at a time which allows you to visit the golf shop to pay your proper fees, warm up on the practice tee and practice putting green as well as eat in the restaurant or snack bar if needed. Clubs and courses vary on how far in advance you are able to make a starting time. Call the club or course to find out what their rules are. Understand, if a tee time is missed you may be charged a "no-show" fee. Again this is different from golf course to golf course.

When making your starting reservation, also learn the dress code of the facility. Clubs have a wide variety of rules when it comes to their individual dress code. Denim may be clear to wear at one club and prohibited by dress code at another club. Fashion has actually gotten into golf and wearing a Tiger-like fancy mock t-shirt could be accepted at one course and not another. In addition, most clubs only allow soft spikes on your golf shoes. It is the player's responsibility to be aware of and know the dress code policies of a club.

What about tipping while at the golf course? Again, first check with the club or course because there are some clubs that do not allow tipping. Most do. It is common to tip one to two dollars per bag upon arrival or leaving after your round, if you receive proper assistance with your bag or bags. The restaurant and the beverage cart are typically tipped on basic restaurant guidelines.

Once on the golf course there are some common rules that should be followed. The rules of golf state that there is no limit on how few clubs you can carry in your bag however you are limited to fourteen clubs in your golf bag. In a competitive situation you will be assessed extra strokes for this type of infraction.

Before going onto the golf course, you need to understand how to repair a divot in the fairway or rough. This is important to insure proper maintenance of the golf course. On the green you need to know how to properly repair a ball mark made on the putting green. If repaired properly the turf can repair itself in a few days. If the ball mark on the putting green is not repaired properly, it could take weeks for the turf to repair itself.

Before venturing out to the golf course, use these how-to and rules to make sure it is a great experience.

Learn Easy Golf Swing Instructions For Lower Scores

We all know shooting low golf scores is a huge challenge and there are not many that ever learn how to break 80 or even 70 for that matter. Your mental game plays a large role in learning how to shoot lower scores especially, if you already have good golf swing mechanics and a consistent short game. Many golfers do not have a mental plan to approach the game and this costs them unnecessary numbers of strokes each and every round. Here are some golf swing instructions on the mental game that will help you play better golf.

Proper Course Management Will Lower Your Scores

Many golfers are not good at managing a golf course and try to play heroic shots from difficult positions. The best golf swing instructions, as far as course management is to have a
conservative strategy with an aggressive swing. You need to know what you are capable of, and play within yourself and hit the high percentage shots. When thinking about golf swing instructions, do not let other people influence your decision, on or off the tee. Your competition is the golf course and your goal is to post the lowest score you are capable of.

A Solid Pre Shot Routine For Consistency

Golf swing instructions can include a good pre shot routine. This will help you to be a more consistent player and will help to get you physically and mentally prepared for every single golf shot.

There are two golf swing instructions for any solid routine and they include, the mental and physical routine. The mental routine is the most important however a consistent physical routine can support the mental routine in many different ways. In turn, try to be flexible in your physical routine and permit yourself to take additional practice swings if necessary, at any given time. The key to the mental instructions, is how you are thinking before you hit the ball.

With golf swing instructions, it's important to clear your mind and focus on the target when you swing the club. You need to trust that you have trained your golf swing enough on the range to be able to hit your shots well on the golf course. If your constantly thinking about swing mechanics then this will affect your ability to shoot low scores especially in pressure situations. Just look and react to your targets and this will permit you to hit the best shots in those situations. Golf swing instructions will help your mental game and in turn will keep you focused on the target so you can manage the golf course in the proper manner.

Positive Thinking

Now you know you need to think positive, but many have a habit of dwelling on bad shots. This can really take the enjoyment out of the game, so relax and maybe joke around a little when you find yourself hitting some bad shots. Golf is a game of mistakes and then recovering from those mistakes as fast as possible. Try some of these mental game strategies along with the golf swing instructions to help you lower your handicap faster.

Golf - A Brief History

Golf has been enjoyed by people around the world for many centuries and is still very popular to this day. Many people find themselves drawn to the game because of its casual yet intense level of one on one competition between the players. Some find it relaxing due to the breaks in between each shot. Others like the sheer strategy involved in how to read the lay of the land.

The game offers spectators of the sport an opportunity to enjoy being outdoors and actually following along as the players progress from one hole to the next. There are many beautiful golf courses which offer a vast array of pristine scenery and the spectators are able to closely observe the players while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the course.

The game of golf first originated in Scotland just about the twelfth century. It is a little blurry as to the exact origins of the game, but it is accepted that the game itself has undergone several diverse changes throughout the years. It is generally believed that the initial form of golf was played with a medium length, yet very sturdy stick and a small sheep skin ball. The ball was believed to have been hit with these sticks in an effort to cause the ball to enter a small container which was placed upon a flat piece of ground.

The people playing this early form of the game would take turns, each person getting one shot per turn, and the player who hit the ball into the container the greatest number of times was declared the winner of this game. At some point during approximately the seventeenth century the small container evolved into the hole in the ground that we are familiar with in today's game of golf.

Throughout the nineteenth century there were several very significant innovations made to the tools which are used in the game of golf. For instance the rubber ball was introduced in 1898 by a man named Coburn Haskell. This new rubber ball featured a solid rubber core which had been tightly wrapped by a long, thin rubber string. This new ball made it possible to get an extra fifteen to twenty yards out of each stroke for many golfers. The previous golf balls had mostly been made from heated tree sap and then molded into the shape of a ball.

In the year nineteen sixteen the PGA (Professional Golfers Association), was founded. This new association would rise to oversee all the major golf tours within the United States of America. In nineteen fifty the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), was founded and is now considered to be one of the most prominent golf tours in the entire world for women golfers.

The game of golf has a rich and very old history which becomes slightly blurred due to the fact that the game has been around for so many centuries. There have been many professional players who have achieved outstanding levels of excellence in their playing abilities over the years. This is just a brief history of golf as a sport which has remained so popular for such a long time.

Golf Guide For Beginners - Tips And Info

I sincerely hope that the information that I will be providing will make your experience with golf an even more enjoyable and rewarding experience than it was for me. Enjoy!

In my opinion there are three things necessary to get started playing golf properly. Beside a desire to learn, the first and most obvious of the three is you need golf equipment, secondly, you have to have some basic knowledge of how to swing a golf club and the basic rules of the game, and last but certainly not least is learning "Golf Etiquette". As you will note I will keep emphasizing the "Etiquette" part of golf and as you become a more experienced player you it will become clear to you why.

Since the first item I noted as a requirement to play was Equipment, some recommendations I would make to acquire equipment are as follows: Golf equipment can be very pricey so it is important to know the type of equipment that is right for you before you make any substantial investments. Golf Clubs can range from as little as $150 per set to as much as $2,000 or more for the new, most advanced Hi- Tech equipment.

My recommendation for someone starting out is to buy a used set of clubs, either at a golf store or garage sale , borrow a set from a relative or friend, or purchase a starter set form your local golf or sporting goods store ie; Dick's Sporting Goods, Golfsmith, Modells, Walmart, etc.. If you decide to purchase a new starter set or a used set of clubs you should ask to speak to the resident golf professional ( Dick's or Golfsmith would offer this service). He should be able to recommend equipment that will allow you to get started without spending an exhorbitant amount of money. It will also give you a chance to experience the game and determine whether it is right for you.

As much as I love golf there are people who have no interest or desire to play. In conversation with them I usually find that either they have tried it, found it too difficult and gave up, or they were into other hobbies such as fishing , boating and did not think golf was an athletic enough sport for them. I'm assuming that if you're reading this that you want to learn to play golf. One of the topics of a subsequent writing will be how to LEARN TO PLAY the right way. It you want to give yourself a fair chance to see if you really enjoy the game you have to learn properly. Golf is not as easy as it looks and since we can't all be Tiger Woods, us mere mortals have to work a little harder at it if we want to learn to play well. Forgive my digression, but I will do that from time to time to emphasize a point. The next writing will be about learning how to play, so back to equipment.

The beginning golfer does not need to carry 14 clubs ( the approved amount of clubs allowed to be carried under USGA - United States Golf Association rules). When I first started playing I had a golf bag I borrowed, A driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 5 iron, 7 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge and a putter and it was more than enough clubs to play. The different numbered clubs are used for different distances. For example, the Driver is the least lofted club, which means you can achieve the most distance utilizing this club.

The subsequent clubs noted, 3 wood, 5 wood, 5, 7 & 9 irons and sand wedge all have increasing angles of loft respectively, so as the number increases on the club the resulting distance will decrease accordingly. Each number will progressively represents about a 10 to 20 yard variance depending on one's ability and if you are using a wood or an iron. As you begin to play you will learn more about when and why you use the different clubs but the important thing is to get started. Grab your clubs and get ready to learn to play"The Right Way" .

Golf Instruction, If You See Someone Teaching This Move, Run!

It was just yesterday that I was at the range with some friends with a video camera taking pics of their swings and generally messing around with trying to get them to quit with the over the top move.

Man, every where I go I see this over the top thing and there just doesn't seem to be an easy fix, even when the fix is easy.

Any way as we were doing our thing, I noticed a family down the range a ways. There were two young boys in their early teens or less. The father, mom was sitting on one of the benches and it appeared that grandfather was there too.

Nice picture. I love it when young kids show an interest. They had decent swings for beginners.

I noticed that Dad was giving advice on their respective swings. And he seemed to know something about it. Not bad, I thought.

Until Dad and grandfather started talking about the takeaway move.

Dad was more than a bit adamant that you should take the club away low and very long. That you should get tremendous separation from your body. And that you have a very late wrist cock of your right hand.

While Grandfather was saying that he thought an early wrist cock and a good shoulder turn was not only easier, but made much more sense to him.

Dad was very very insistent. Grandfather was much more passive. Then the conversation started to include the boys who were hitting balls.

Dad gave them a drill to do.

You put a ball behind your club head on the ground, and on your takeaway you push the ball back with the back of your clubhead as far as you can before you begin to lift the club up into your back swing.

Neither of the boys could hit the ball while doing this.

And it is no wonder. Dad has it wrong big time.

Here is proof.

Mike Wier and Chris Dimarco are only two examples of PGA professionals that use an early wrist cock to start the swing and to get into a great pattern of early angles.

As opposed to very few PGA players who work on a big extension and separation on the move away.

This idea of a big separation and large extension is a formula for developing a poor weight shift and it is a timing nightmare. That's the reason the young boys couldn't hit the ball using this idea.

It often( the move) will pull the golfer out over the outside of his right foot making returning to the left side virtually impossible.

The result, here's a surprise, poor to no weight shift and an over the top move in order to make contact. This of course results in a big left to right ball flight or a SLICE!

It may appear to be a good idea because some PGA players do it. Not as many as there used to be doing, but still some do. It takes an exceptional athlete to accomplish this on a regular basis and the advantage is out weighted by the poor result for most of us.

So all you Dad's out there, here is some great advice.

Listen to Gandpa, he knows best. He knows a lot more than you think. He just doesn't want to be loud about it.

An early establishment of the right wrist angle is a good move. It sets the angles and then you just turn your shoulders.

When you do it right, and every one can, you will hit the ball as if by magic.

Setting angles early in the golf swing is one of the four magic moves. To learn more about the little know four magic moves and to get a free look at the first one click here: http://www.ebooksbestbuy.com/golf

Before You Pick Up a Golf Club

Golf can be one of the most exciting and rewarding games you'll ever play. Unfortunately, it's not the easiest game and can dissuade many beginners from sticking with it long enough to master its challenges.

Golf offers a player the opportunity to compete with a great rival, yourself. Anyone who has played golf understands that your game cannot advance if you cannot admit your personal weaknesses and handicaps. But therein lays the joy that only a true golfer can understand: overcoming the obstacles and improving the golf game. Some would go as far to say conquering that course is unparalleled to any other challenge.

Apart from the mental challenge of the game picking up a golf club requires you to perform an extremely difficult act over and over again. That is, of course, to hit the ball with the club face perfectly so that the ball goes exactly where you want it to go. You must evoke the proper amount of force to ensure complete control over your swing and calculating a strategy to have your ball finally land within that hole using the least number of shots.

You must swing the club up over your shoulders then down and around in a accurate semicircle so that the area on the club face will evenly hit the golf ball waiting for you on the tee. The room for error is diminutive and accuracy is everything.

Before choosing that golf club and beginning to play well you must do two things; (a) Learn the game at a pace you can handle and (b) Stick with it. It takes a good while to become skilled at golf so patience and practice makes perfect. Don't expect to set any records when you begin to learn the game. Keep in mind, golf is multifaceted with numerous areas that require varied skills on your part. Putting demands excellent nerves and aiming skills. And your strategy will require a sharp, focused mind and the ability to spot where the biggest dangers are on each hole.

Each aspect of your golf game must be understood, practiced and perfected in order for you to excel at golf. So before you pick up a golf club remember these tips:

1. Anyone can enjoy playing golf no matter what level of their athleticism. Why do golfers focus on the other players? Your real opponent is the course and yourself and not the other players.

2. Golf is a difficult game to master because every action must be initiated by you. This means you control all possible outcomes of your shot. But practice and patience will result in strength and confidence and a better golf game.

3. Know your strengths and weaknesses and build your strategy around that. Become mentally prepared and envision your game and plan for any adjustments you may need to make.

Golf offers numerous delights that satisfy the mind, body and spirit leaving you rejuvenated and ready for another day's challenge. So pick up that golf club and practice, practice, practice.

Your golf game deserves the finest quality golf practice mats available. UltiMat Pro is a realistic hitting surface with no wrist or club shock and no club burn. Extraordinarily durable, convenient and lightweight. Get your UltiMat Pro Golf Practice Mat now and start improving your golf game.

Golf Swing Mechanics - Discover How to Fix Your Slice Fast and Easy

Are you a beginning golfer or an avid golfer that is sick of slicing the golf ball? There are certain golf swing mechanics that cause you to slice the golf ball and having the knowledge of what causes this will help you correct it. Here is an explanation that should help and a drill to help you as well.

Before we get into the explanation you should know that in order to really get good enough to stop slicing you will need much more than just this article. You either need to get professional instruction from a club pro or you need to get yourself a good step-by-step plan of attack like the one at the bottom of this article. It is worth the few minutes of your time to check it out.

So what is causing you to slice the ball?

First, you have to understand that there are only two things that control the direction of the golf ball and that is your swing path and your club face angle. The path is responsible for you pulling, pushing, or hitting the ball straight, and the face of the club is responsible for the hook, draw, straight shot, fade, and slice.

Now with knowing that you need to fix your face angle at impact. If you are pull slicing, then you also have a path issues and your path is outside in. If you are push slicing (very ugly!), then you have an inside out swing path. Both of these have an open face, which is causing your slice.

The Drill

Now to work on learning how not to slice we have to fix your face angle and your path, most likely. You can do this by setting up a shoebox about a half inch from the ball and hitting the ball without hitting the shoebox. You may go through a few shoe boxes before you perfect this, but it will work.

Customer Review: good product
Accomplishes what it's supposed to do. It is really a simple basic product but recommendable.

Golf exercises involving flexibility training can improve your shoulder turn and golf swing speed. The biomechanics of the golf swing require high levels of flexibility to execute correctly. And all to often the golfer is lacking in the required levels of flexibility to execute the golf swing correctly, resulting in compensations to occur within the swing. Causing a loss of club head speed, distance, and accuracy with every shot in the bag.

In order to prevent such a situation from occurring and to allow you the opportunity to execute the golf swing correctly. We must assure ourselves your body has the flexibility levels required of the golf swing. The achievement of this result can occur through the utilization of flexibility exercises for golf.

First off let us quickly define flexibility. Flexibility is the ability of your body to move through the "required" range of motion to perform the activity at hand (a simplified definition but it work it for us). Knowing this definition and combining it with what you know about golf swing mechanics. We can come to the conclusion that in order to swing a club on the correct path, the body must have the required flexibility parameters to move that club on the correct path.

The most common areas of the body where flexibility becomes an issues for the golf swing and most individuals is the lower back, hamstrings, hips, and shoulders. "Tightness" in any of these areas of body can impede the ability of drawing the club on the correct swing path. Resulting in poor execution of the golf swing itself.

Now here is the interesting point about flexibility and the golf swing. The greater range of motion you can get the club to move through in relation to the swing plane (remember, range of motion is contingent on your bodies flexibility), the greater amount of power you can develop. Thus allowing you to increase your clubhead speed, increase the distance of your drives, and lower your scores. A pretty simple equation when you put it all together.

So if you are finding "tightness" in any of the muscles incorporated within the golf swing this could well be hampering your swing and the distance you are hitting all of your golf shots. Implementing golf exercises in the form of flexibility training in your golf fitness program could help this situation.

When you play a round of golf, your gross score is recorded (the number of strokes you have taken on every hole) and then if necessary you reduce your score on any hole where you took more than two shots above par, to a double bogey or two shots above par (e.g. you score 7 on a par 4, reduce it to 6) - this new score is your gross adjusted score. When this adjusted score is totalled it will give you the number of shots played during the round to be used in calculating your handicap. The par for the course is deducted from your total gross adjusted score (GAS). This will be repeated for all the three cards submitted to calculate your handicap for your handicap certificate. To obtain your handicap the average difference from all three gross adjusted scores (GAS) and par are calculated.

Once you have obtained your handicap you can now play knowing you are able to compete on a par with other golfers. After obtaining your handicap it can be adjusted to reflect your play!

Golf handicaps (1 - 28) are divided into 4 categories

The categories are:-

Golf Handicaps 0 - 5 (Category 1)

Golf Handicaps 6 - 12 (Category 2)

Golf Handicaps 13 - 19 (Category 3)

Golf Handicaps 20 - 28 (Category 4)

When you deduct your current playing golf handicap from your gross score this gives you your net score for the round.

Let's first assume your net score is above the par for the golf course - this is where the categories are first used. Each category has a buffer zone (the lee way before a handicap adjustment is made) which is as follows:-

Category 1 - buffer 1 shot

Category 2 - buffer 2 shots

Category 3 - buffer 3 shots

Category 4 - buffer 4 shots

If your score is within the buffer zone for your category, you will have no adjustment made to your golf handicap.

If your net score is over the standard scratch score by more than the buffer zone, your golf handicap will increase by 0.1 - note that exact golf handicaps can never increase by more than 0.1 regardless of how badly you might score.

Now let's look at what happens if your net is below the par for the golf course. Again the categories come into play as each has a multiplier as follows:-

Category 1 - multiply 0.1

Category 2 - multiply 0.2

Category 3 - multiply 0.3

Category 4 - multiply 0.4

So lets assume your net score is 3 below par and you are a category 3 player, you multiply 3 x 0.3 = 0.9. So your exact golf handicap is reduced by 0.9 of a shot.

We will update your handicap as and when required, you do not need to do anything except send in the information, and we will do the rest for you.

Can you believe how many different golf balls are out there? Seems like a new one comes out every week. It has gotten to be big business between the giants of golf meaning Titleist, Callaway and Nike to name a few. What's the big deal between one golf ball and the next?

Get A Deal On Used Golf Balls

Used golf balls have it pay dirt. I actually get Pro V1's from a guy here in Scottsdale, that has a "physical store" he sells his used balls at. These balls are near perfect and are more than 50% cheaper. There are several websites that offer great deals on used golf balls if you want to take the time to search for them.

Cheap Balls For The High Handicapper

There are a ton of cheap balls that are perfect for the high handicap golfer. These balls make no difference to a golfer that is a 20 handicap or higher. In fact, at this level, getting a higher priced ball is a waste of money. If you're in this category, save your money and put it into lessons or clubs. Either way, you can get cheap golf balls at Target stores and many sports equipment stores.

Logo Balls Are Good For Marketing

One of the best tools for marketing is logo golf balls. They are a big hit at company functions, charity events and tournaments. Balls with your company logo on it get your business name passed around like a viral magnet. Just think of lost balls. Someone will find your logo ball and see your company name on it. Not a bad way to go.

Custom Golf Balls Are For The Elite

Custom golf balls go all the way! People put their names on them, photos and basically anything they can think of. Custom ball are a bit over the top, but whatever works I guess. Either way, the popularity of golf balls continues to grow, and we will continue to open up our wallets on a weekly basis!

About The Author: Mike Pedersen is one of the top golf performance experts in the country. He is the founder of 8 golf websites including his new golf balls review site. He has reviews on used golf balls and most recently the best golf balls.

As if South Maui and its gorgeous beaches weren't enough, the golf enthusiast can truly call the area paradise. With prime golfing weather year-round, there are many luxury properties that any golf aficionado would love to call home, or perhaps their "home away from home." The only dilemma you may have is which golf community you want to claim as your residence. Because from Kihei to Wailea to Makena, you can find several luxury golf properties where you can hang your hat and swing your clubs at some playable courses.

In Kihei you can find the Hokulani Golf Villas, the newest luxury planned community in the South Maui area. The elleair Maui Golf Club surrounds the 152 homes designed within the 40 acre community. Not only can homeowners enjoy a recreation center with infinity pool and spa, but also the spectacular views everywhere you turn! The Golf Club is updating everything from the pro shop to the driving range. Golfers can view the on-cart video GPS yardage or try to beat the course record of 65. To make the course with an average rating of 71 and an average slope of 128 even more playable, the fairways are being widened and the greens are being reshaped and enlarged.

Wailea Golf Club boasts three courses, Gold, Emerald and Blue and each has wonderful ocean vistas. The Blue Course fairways weave through the Wailea Resort, punctuated by coral sand bunkers and cooling fountains. The course, designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, is on the shorter side, at 6,765 yards from the tips. Of course, the advantage to this is that senior players may prefer this shorter, easier course while still enjoying the traditional Hawaiian resort golf atmosphere.

The Emerald features player-friendly fairways and plentiful views of the ocean and Mount Haleakala. The double green shared by holes #10 and #17 borders a 2.7 million gallon lake and is considered to be a unique and picturesque spot. The average slope on the Emerald Course is in the low 120s and the average rating is 68. The Gold Course is known as "Wailea's Rugged Beauty" and as the most rigorous and longest of the three courses, at 7,078 yards. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the average slope is 130 and average rating is 70.8 at the Gold Course.

Indeed, a golfer can find several choices of where to rest after a long day at the links in Wailea. There's the Wailea Golf Estates situated on 30 acres of sloped land above the Blue Course. 61 single family homes may be found behind a gated entrance. Or there is the Wailea Golf Vistas community consisting of 48 homesites with custom designed single family homes, nestled between the 1st and 3rd fairways of the Blue Course. The Wailea Highlands have large half acre lots and overlook the Blue Course's 17th fairway. Gated, with only 24 homesites available, these single family homes are truly exclusive, located just below the Diamond Resort.

Just south of Wailea you can find Makena, known as an area of untamed beauty. The site of two famous Maui beaches, Big Beach and Little Beach, Makena is also home to the 'Ahihi-Kina'u Natural Area Reserve, a popular snorkeling spot. And for golf lovers, Makena manages to make a distinct impression with 36 spectacular holes of golf.

Makena Resort Golf Course consists of two options - a North Course and a South Course. The North Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., embraces the natural beauty that Makena is known for...stream beds and gullies have been kept intact and Hawaiian rock walls remain, captivating golfers as they move along the fairways. The Resort course rating is 70.1 and the slope is 131. The South Course, also designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is currently in the midst of renovation. It has won many awards and distinctions, ranging from Best Course Design from Conde Nast Traveler Magazine and Golf Digest's 75 Best Golf Resorts in North America.

Homes in Makena are truly on par with what you would expect for a perfect golf getaway. One new community in development is Maluaka, consists of 69 private residences along the Makena Resort South Course. Ownership at Maluaka includes membership in the Club with amenities such as a spa, clubhouse, concierge and more.

There are many opportunities for the avid golf player to find a luxurious home, either to live in year-round or to use as a getaway, in South Maui. The homes are of the highest quality and surrounded by top-rated golf courses that will challenge the golfer. Why not lower your handicap in paradise?

Phoenix Arizona Golf Properties Still Favored Nationwide

"With our weather, courses and mindset, Scottsdale has no rival in the world when it comes to golf," admonishes Professional Golf Association legend Tom Weiskopf. Weiskopf has designed courses at Troon North Golf Club, DC Ranch and the Tournament Players Club, in fact. Other golf iconoclasts like Robert Trent Jones Sr., Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Robert Cupp, Billy Casper, Ben Crenshaw, and Bill Grove have also played a hand in developing the award-winning Arizona golf properties in Scottsdale.

Expert golf instructors like Jim Flick also say that Scottsdale golf properties are some of the best designed and maintained. "Scottsdale has its own distinctive look," Flick explains. He adds that desert golf plays off the natural scenery quite well, where players ricochet their golf balls off immobile boulders, around towering cacti, through sand pits and down narrow fairways.

Desert Highlands is one of the favorite Arizona golf properties in Scottsdale. Crafted around a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, the community consists of 560 homes spread out on 850 Sonoran Desert acres. The wonderfully landscaped course takes advantage of desert and mountain terrain. In addition to golf, there's tennis, a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, private swimming pools and 3.5 miles of walking/jogging paths. Their clubhouse has won a number of prestigious awards, including: "Most Beautiful Clubhouse in America" (Tom Doaks' Confidential Guide), "Interior Design Award of Excellence" (American Institute of Architecture) and "Third Best Clubhouse in the World" (Golf Magazine, 1989), to name a few. Amenities are rich, with a plethora of nearby shopping centers, Mayo Clinic medical facilities, upscale boutiques, salons, coffee shops and top schools. Houses range from $995,000 to $8 million.

Desert Mountain is another excellent collection of Scottsdale golf properties. Here serious golfers will find six private Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses (with six different clubhouses). Naturally, state-of-the-art tennis courts, spas, fitness centers and restaurants greet residents of this gated community as well. "Desert Mountain is one of the highlights of my career as a golf course designer," Nicklaus himself admits. According to the Robb Report, the 8,000-acre residential and recreational site is the "World's Best Golf Community."

Newcomers will be happy to know that 11 of America's Top 100 golf instructors live in Scottsdale golf properties. For the best instruction, check out the Golf Digest Learning Centers at Talking Stick Golf Club, the John Jacobs Golf School, the Nicklaus / Flick Game Improvement Center and the Lyford School of Golf. Arizona golf properties are not just comfortable communities to develop a new hobby, but they're also inspirational home for the professionals too. A number of the pros have made Arizona their happy homes, including Tom Lehman, Tom Weiskopf, Andrew Magee, Hale Irwin, Jim Carter, Brandel Chamblee, Kirk Triplett, Billy Mayfair, Jonathon Kaye, Tom Purtzer, Curt Byrum, Gary McCord, Mike Nicolette, Dan Pohl, Jerry Smith, Grace Park and Carin Koch.

With more than 174 public and private golf courses and over 329 days of sunshine each year, it's no surprise that Arizona golf properties are some of the most coveted in the nation. Please visit Judybrickman.com for Phoenix Golf Properties and real estate listings.

Kettler Golf S Exercise Bike Review

The Kettler Golf S is the much admired German manufacturer's offering for beginners to intermediate, if you're already as fit as a fiddle and looking for a bike we suggest you go for the higher spec Kettler Golf ST Pro with more programmes and higher resistance levels. Back to this one, it has a very comfortable gel filled saddle that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally to find the optimum position. The action is incredibly smooth and quiet with a good range of 10 resistance levels that can be selected via a button on the console.

The display console is excellent in our view, as with all Kettler's equipment, it's easy to use and read and displays a large amount of data relating to your workout including time, speed, pedalling rate, distance covered per session, total distance covered, energy consumption, room temperature, pulse rate and recovery pulse-rate which gives you a fitness rating from 1-6. This is great to keep you coming back as you can measure your progress.

There are a number of ways you can monitor your heart rate whilst exercising (an alarm bleeps if you exceed your pre-determined limit based on your age and weight). You can either use the hand grips, these can be removed from the handles, an ear clip that comes with the bike, or you can buy a chest strap that communicates with the built-in chip. The chest strap is the best option as it's more accurate and you don't need to keep your hands on the grips. Some people find using a chest strap uncomfortable but if you use the grips you will lose the accuracy.

To summarise, the Kettler Golf S is an excellent, if basic, bike for the beginner (or intermediate) that's a quality piece of kit, however it's one for the minimalists.

Golf Putting Tips - The Easiest Way to Improve Your Golf

Which do you prefer - golf swing tips or golf putting tips? If you are like most people, your answer would be "golf swing tips". This is the flashiest part of the game of golf. This is what journalists report on TV and newspaper sports columns. They blare out "Tiger Woods changes his swing!" on their headlines but never mention anything about how effective and efficient his putts are.

The simple fact is that perfecting your putt is the simplest way you can consistently shave off one or two strokes from your game. This is by far the easiest way you can practice your golf - without the limitation of having to go to the golf course. All you really need is your putter, a ball, artificial mats and cups to simulate the green. Place the mats and cups in your backyard or wherever you have space and away you go. Just spend anywhere from 5 minutes to half-an-hour every evening after dinner and you will notice the results in your game.

Here is another golf putting tip - close your eyes. Apparently some pros have been seen closing their eyes when putting. Basically, they know where the ball is and where the hole is. When they close their eyes, they just allow their body to take over - stroking the ball into the hole. Conventional wisdom has it that some people just cannot co-ordinate all the signals between their eyes and their arms because they have too much eye movement, especially when under stress. So closing their eyes changes the state of their whole nervous system, helping it to come under control again. A less extreme version of this technique is to keep your eyes fixed on the hole rather than the ball. Colin Montgomerie has been caught using this technique. Obviously, both versions of the technique require a lot of private practice before you trot it out in public.

Did you know that there are three different kinds of putter? The type most often used is called a conventional putter. It gives most golfers the best combination of sensitivity and mechanical precision. This is what most golf instructors will teach you to use. The problem is that people who cannot control their nerves or wrist action well usually mess up their shots.

To fix this problem, belly putters and long putters were invented. Golfers who use the belly putter anchor the handle to their abdomen. This reduces wrist action but also reduces control over the club and ball. The long putter, on the other hand, allows you to take a vertical stance and you swing the putter without any wrist action. It is great if you have a bad back, but it reduces your control even worse than the belly putter. Despite their flaws, you may want to test out the belly putter and long putter if you cannot get good results with the conventional putters. So what if your golf buddies laugh at you? The chance to take a few strokes off your handicap should be more than adequate compensation for their laughter.

Do you have these 3 problems with your golf swing: 1) inconsistency; 2) slice; 3) distance? Click here to find out how to improve your golf swing.

With this in mind you must get your business organized so that you can accommodate any new client you may get.

* You can also set up a website or a blog. This is a great idea if you want to get more clients. Most people have access to the Internet and when they are looking for an expert in any field the Internet is the first place they will look. So build an informative website or blog that people will want to come to often.

Golf Lessons - The Perfect Golf Swing - And Total Amnesia

Giving golf lessons should be the gift that keeps on giving. It should lead to lower scores and more smiles. It has THE POTENTIAL to lead to near holes in one.

Certainly it should lead to less club throwing and walking off the course.

Not in my case.

I'd been give a delightful package of 12 lessons at a driving range near where I live and at the time, I thought it was going to save my entire golfing life.

I was a perfect student too. "Yes sir." "I will." "No, I'll never do that again." I was eating up all this new golfing information like a sponge. He'd say put the ball back off of my right toe at address and I would. He'd ask for a quiet head during the swing and he would see it.

I was a model golf lesson student. I'm surprised I never got a check mark on a white board near where he sipped his coffee and read his golf magazines while I went through bucket after broken-ball bucket.

Blisters aplenty, I would leave this golf teaching guru and head home feeling as if I knew things that would propel to lower and lower scores.

But something would always happen that next time out. That next 10:34 tee time. And not necessarily on the first tee...either. And the problem was that I would show up. Me an my bad swing would reappear and send the scores into the stratosphere.

Why?

Because I would unconsciously return to my old swing. The one that those 12 lessons were designed to get me away from. My hands would speed up leaving my arms wondering why. I was playing a rude game of golf my old way.

And the 97 (with 4 pars and a birdie) on the front nine were proof. I had taken those wonderful golf lessons and had abused them.

This went on and on and unmercifully, on. And it stopped when I found the the one things that WILL NOT PHYSICALLY let me swing my old way any longer.

The Perfect Connextion INSISTS that you swing the golf club correctly. There are no outs. There are no what it we do it another ways.

It pins you into a triangle and keeps you there. It demands an honest golf swing and takes no prisoners.

It was what I needed. Because all the golf lessons in the world would not have led to this had I continued to be allowed to be myself on the course.

Sad, huh? No, it's great because I now pull it out before launching off of every tee and TRAIN MY UPPER BODY what I expect to see happen.

They say that change is very tough. It is. But you have to want it.

Luckily, I did.

You've heard about it. Now discover the golf swing training aid that has changed the game for THOUSANDS. The Perfect Connextion is simply stunning. And now, just for reading this article, you can get it at an amazing discount...with TWO FREE BONUSES and 7 FREE ONLINE LESSONS just by visiting http://www.tabinteractive.net/golf1.html and make sure you use PIN #PSCR12382 for your discount.

Aspect To A Proper Golf Grip

Golf Tips to Help You Reduce Your Handicap Quickly

There are many factors to consider if you want to get better at the game of golf. Practice is one of the most important elements so do not think you can become a low handicap player without any practice. However this does not mean you need to spend hours and hours at the range every day. If you practice smart then you can get better without having to sacrifice too much time on the game. Spending enough time on the short game is very important as it is critical in order to lower your handicap. Here are some key tips to keep in mind to help you improve:

Tip 1: Learn the short game first

Learning how to putt and hit shots around the greens is an important step in helping you to get better at this game faster. Take a few lessons initially if you have to in order to learn a specific putting technique. One of the keys with putting is to pick one main mechanical approach and then to stay with that through thick and thin making small changes along the way to fine tune your stroke. The problem with constantly changing putting styles is that your body is never given the chance to learn and get used to one technique so you will not be as good as you can be.

Do not forget to take some time before each round to hit some practice shots around the greens like chips, flops and bunker shots. These short shots around the green can really help to lower your scores quite rapidly. Practice really is the biggest key in getting better at these shots so be sure to take the time to learn them if you find that you tend to struggle getting up and down.

Tip 2: Practice smart

Most golfers do not use their practice time in the best manner possible. They either spend too much time on the wrong clubs or too little time to give themselves a chance to get better. Be sure to allocate appropriate time amounts on the short game and the long game. Also stay focused mentally on each shot and go through your routine so you can develop greater consistency in your game. There are essentially two mental approaches you can take when practicing and they are being in the training mentality or in the trusting mentality. You want to spend most practice sessions working in the trusting mentality as that is where you need to be on the course in order to play your best.

It is also important to learn to listen to your body because if you practice too much you will experience major fatigue and exhaustion so learn to back off once in a while especially if you are a low handicap player. Physical strength and flexibility are key components to good golf so be sure to stretch appropriately before each workout and also be sure to implement some type of strength training program into your life so that you are building strong muscles which will make the game a lot easier.

Robin Williams Golf

Robin Williams is well known for his role of Mork, in Mork and Mindy, and for his numerous movie appearances, in such films as Hook, Dead Poet's Society and Good Morning Vietnam. Robin Williams though has a long established stand up show. It was one of these appearances off of Broadway that the Robin Williams Golf sketch was created and recorded.

Robin Williams golf is now stand up gold, and look on the internet you will see hundreds of sites hosting the clip and praising its virtues. It may though not be to everyone's taste and some of the language is not for youngsters or those easily offended. It is though a humorous way to look at how the game of golf was created, and follows on from a few jokes about Scotsmen. It is therefore probably a good idea not to view the clip if you don't like American comedians doing a Scottish accent, or if you are sensitive about your Scottish roots.

Robin Williams golf is all about the origins of the game, and how it was invented by a drunk Scotsman. It focuses on the basic rules, using a crooked stick to hit the ball, into a hole that is miles away and then decide to put obstacles in the way to make it even more difficult. The clip basically gets all of the facts right and it does seriously make you wonder how the game of golf has become so popular. Hitting a ball and walking around the countryside for six or seven hours doesn't sound like fun.

The stand up routine of Robins Williams golf then moves onto to look at the clothes that golfers where. This then focuses on how golfers have the nerve to dress in some of the outrageous clothes that no one else would be seen dead in, even if you were a 1970s pimp. The routine then winds up by making people think about why people like to watch the game and how commentators make the game seem as interesting as watching the grass on the greens grow.

For those people used to Robin Williams in more family orientated roles, the Robin Williams golf sketch may come as a huge shock. There is a lot of swearing, although whether you can understand everything that is being said is debatable. Luckily for those wanting to catch every word there are clips available that have subtitles.

Fly And Stay Golf Resorts - Fun Vacations Guaranteed

Maybe the complications of a golfing trip just do not appeal to you, so you could consider a fly and stay golf trip. These packages are meant for those who want a quick getaway from the pressures of work, and really do not wish to spend hours and days on planning. Here is a little more on such options for your golfing getaway:

A little on planning the trip

You will find a number of service providers for the fly and stay golf packages. When you check out the prices on the net, bear in mind that the pricing is per person, and not per couple as is with conventional hotel bookings. This means a price tag of 175 could add up to three hundred and fifty dollars if you take your spouse along. That?s just a sample number, and do not fret if you cannot afford three fifty a night, there is something for everyone out there to suit every budget.

Scotia travel is a leading provider where fly and stay golf trips are concerned. Their services include the Islay and Machrihanish options to choose from.

Maybe if you prefer the Islay break, you need to be prepared to spend about $293 for a day visit, and that is in the months of October to April. The same would cost you 706$ if you were to stay for two nights at the location. When you consider this includes your travel and three rounds of golf, you may feel it is well worth the money. Again, never forget the golf visit rates are on a per person basis so they double when you take a spouse with you irrespective of the fact that he or she may not even be a player of the sport. This may seem a little on the high side monetarily, but remember, you wont have to spend on anything else.

Getting hold of a good fly and stay golf service is not very easy since there is not much publicity regarding the same. Maybe you could get in touch with a travel agent, who could arrange the trip for you quickly, and speed is what you want when you require a quick holiday.

It is obvious to anyone that the best thing about fly and stay packages is that you do not take the time to make separate hotel bookings, worry about transport and you have your tee off time prepared for you. But do get a good look at the services provided within the package before you commit to one. Some folks may want unlimited golf time, and many providers do not offer this unless you pay more. Although you do not want to waste time preparing for the trip, reading through the services list is the least you can do to make sure there are no tiresome surprises in store when you arrive.

Golf Recruiting 101

Golf is a great game that you can play for the rest of your life, but you will only have one shot at competing on a college golf team. In this article I will attempt to lead you in a direction that will give you the best opportunity to play golf in a competitive environment in college.

Start Promotion Early

Starting the process early is a huge key to you success in landing a place to play golf in college. You do not have wait until you are a single digit handicap golfer to start contacting college coaches. As a matter of fact you do not have to be a single digit golfer to compete in college in some cases.

The top NCAA Division l schools are looking for a 0-1 handicap. Middle to lower Division l schools you need a 2-3 handicap. With a 4-7 handicap you may still land a Dl offer if other factors like grades are outstanding. With a handicap of 4-7 you qualify for Dll, Dlll, and NAIA for sure. With a handicap of 7 or over you can still qualify for Dlll and NAIA opportunities. There are 279 Division l colleges that offer men's golf. The good news there are 148 at the Dll level, 242 at the Dlll level and 150 at the NAIA level. There are 170 Dl schools for women golfers, and 230 at the Dll, Dlll and NAIA schools combined.

You can get a great education at a smaller school where they focus more on academics then athletics. As a matter of fact 40% of the student body at a smaller school are athletes as compared to 5% at a big name school. Things are not as serious at a smaller school when it comes to athletics, so keep in mind that it may be a better fit for you at a smaller school.

You will need to put together a Player Profile with all your contact info, grades, community service, honors, coaches contact info, a brief bio and a picture. Start contacting coaches via phone or via email and tell them you are interested in playing golf for them. If they are interested they will want more info on you, so there is you opportunity to send them your Player Profile. You do not need to play AJGA golf or any other junior tour events to get an offer to play golf in college at the lower levels. The bigger schools will more than likely want some national junior competition under your belt. Don't worry if you don't have a high ranking if you do play on the junior golf circuit. Remember there are a lot of smaller schools that would love to have you, but they just don't know about you. That is why you need to self promote.

Clearinghouse Registration

If you are good enough to play Dl or Dll college golf you must register with the Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse at the end of your junior year at ncaa.org. Make sure you get The Guide for College Bound Student-Athlete from your counselor or from the NCAA website.

Academics

Academics can make you or can break you. I does not matter how great you are, if you grades are not in order you will not even qualify to play under NCAA requirements. The better the grades, including your SAT score, the better opportunity and the more money you will get.

Community Service

Community service and or extracurricular activities are a big deal. You want to be the triple threat student-athlete. All things being equal in terms of grades and game the college coach will "offer" the athlete who has more community service. Besides there is a lot of money to be had from the Federal Government that does not have to be paid back under the "work study" program. How you qualify for a work study grant is to have a lot of extracurricular/community service activities. Things like the arts, music, dance, school government, church involvement, outside volunteer work and so on. Your list of community service activities is how the coach judges you over-all character. After all the college coach doesn't even know anything about you at this point.

Letter of Recommendation

A letter or recommendation or two will serve you very well as a potential college golf prospect. Ask anyone of authority, such as your coach, school counselor, teacher, pastor/priest, to write a letter of recommendation for you. I suggest that you send the letter along with your Player Profile to college coaches.

Keeping In Touch

Once you make contact with a college coach you will need to stay in touch on a regular basis. I suggest when you are in season that you communicate weekly results to all coaches showing interest in you as a potential golf prospect. This is huge since there are only 4.5 scholarships for men and 6 scholarships for women available per year per school.

Golf Buddy Pro GPS Review

One of the more popular choices among golfers the Golf Buddy Pro GPS has many features that make it stand out from the rest of the market. It was originally designed as a system for real pro caddies so it offers greater yardage accuracy all wrapped in a nice aesthetic package. So it is no surprise that it is quite a popular choice among Golfers.

A large screen dominates the interface of this unit and although only in black and white it is a high resolution display which gives a clear and crisp readout with good visibility in all lighting conditions. The simple control system makes it easy to operate and get the information displayed that you need quickly.

Golf Buddy Pro GPS is the only one on the market at the time of writing that is delivered with all 20,000 currently available US golf courses already installed. Giving it the ability to tell you where you are, just in case you ever forget! It automatically updates to the course and hole you are currently playing. This alone can save you the time of changing course information in between rounds and the hassle of forgetting to load a course's data before you play a new course.

No annual fees: this is one of the few golf GPS systems that does not tie you in to a annual contract, which in itself potentially would save you a considerable amount of money.

On top of all the above the Golf Buddy Pro GPS gives the user the ability to add up to 11 hazards per hole and store the information for later use. It will calculate your driving distance and change the shape of the green to compensate for you approach angle.

With its Li-Polymer rechargeable battery with AAA backup it is never going to run out of charge at that crucial point while on the course.

All in all it proves to be a feature loaded competitor to the other top models in the market place.

While researching this Golf Buddy Pro GPS review we found a mixed bunch of comments from users of the Golf Buddy Pro GPS. Most gripes appear to come from the units lack of accuracy which is ironic since Golf Buddy designed this to be a pro's GPS and made accuracy a key selling point. Perhaps they set expectations too high.

Another downside with the Golf Buddy Pro is that it lacks any kind of storage features: for your shots, score or round information, which for a unit of this price is a little surprising.

Before making any golf GPS buying decisions, you may want to read the full Golf Buddy Pro GPS review. Pay particular attention to the feedback, complaints and ratings by previous Golf Buddy Pro GPS owners.
