Feel Safe With The Right Security Camera

Nothing can be better than being able to sleep well at night because you know your safety is assured. Installing a security camera that can keep watch for you while your eyes are closed can give you a hand during future investigations. A security camera can help store evidence that can deter or apprehend possible burglars. It's the perfect complement to an alarm system.

Of course, in order to get the most out of your security camera, you should pick the one that can answer your need. Because many people have opted to install them in their homes and offices as an added precaution, many types of cameras are available in the market. You can choose from a selection of covert, night vision, wired and wireless security cameras. And, believe it or not, even fake security cameras are now available in the market. The first thing that you should consider when choosing a camera is what you want it to do for you.

Covert Security Cameras

With this type of camera, you can tell what's going on in your house or in your office while your back is turned. Some business owners, for example, plant covert cameras all over their office in order to make sure that their employees are doing their work properly and no monkey business is being done behind their backs. Some mothers have them installed in teddy bears, flowerpots and clocks in order to make sure that their kids are safe and that the babysitter is doing her job.

Wired vs. Wireless Security Cameras

Wired security cameras are perfect for people who want to keep a constant watch on a certain spot. This is usually considered for permanent set ups. The disadvantage of using one is that wires must be run from the camera location to your recording device or monitor. While in new construction hiding these wires is not a problem but for existing homes it may not be as easy and you might need professional help when installing it. Wireless security cameras, on the other hand, can give you flexibility and are very easy to install. They do not require running wires from the camera to your recorder or monitor since the video signal is sent wirelessly to a receiver. Wireless cameras will still need to be powered but as long as there is an outlet nearby this isn't a problem.

Infrared Cameras

These are perfect in areas where the lighting is very low. This type of camera can be used in many situations including parking lots, warehouses or anywhere that adequate lighting may be an issue. You can also install it in your front door to help you keep watch of the things that go on outside your house at night. They provide a color picture during the day and automatically switch to B/W at night to maintain picture quality. The distance that infrared cameras can see in total darkness depends on the number and size of the infrared illuminators.

Fake Security Cameras?

Don't sound so surprised! There are fake security cameras in the market. Unfortunately, these fake cameras cannot record the events that will occur in the area you want to watch. They are meant to be seen in order to deter burglars from robbing your house. Although they sometimes do work and cost considerably less to install, some burglars tend to be smarter. And, by avoiding the line of sight of the fake security camera or figuring out that it is a fake, they can proceed with their evil plans and you won't have anything to show the police when they start investigating the crime.
