It's always a good thing to carry a spare. Even in your car, I am sure you have a spare tire in case your car gets a flat. This also applies to photographers, who find it necessary to carry camera spare batteries with them all the time they go out for a shoot. When it comes to accessorizing, part of what a photographer must always have in his or her bag is a spare battery or as many as they can carry. In fact what is even better is to have spare batteries which are rechargeable.
It's always necessary to be prepared, probably sounds like a corny scout motto, but it works for me.
